The last of the swim lessons

Our end of July and beginning of August just slipped by me so I will give a brief synopsis of what we have done. Carver and Madalyn (and Nicalee sort of) took some swim lessons at the shinsel pool which they loved. I think they learned a lot of useful swim techniques and really started to show some talent in the water. Maddie is the model here.

We also had a lovely campout in the backyard with movies, popcorn, lanturns and a portable dvd player to make it complete.

And Carver had his first day of school as a first grader. His class is mostly the same as last year and I just loved his class last year. I think there are only 20-21 kids in his class which is also great and Mrs. Marshall is a fabulous teacher. Madalyn is so excited for when she gets to start up again (in a few weeks).

Nicalee is such a fun personality right now. She loves to try to feed herself. She runs like crazy and she can even climb the ladders on the swingset--- that scared me to pieces last week when I saw her do it all by herself. Yikes. I love my kids!!

Utah Symphony at Deer Valley

Last weekend a girlfriend and I went up to the Snow Park amphitheater and had a wonderful time hearing Mark O'Connor (a fantastic violinist/composer) perform with the Utah Symphony. I used to do this type of activity very frequently and now it has faded into a sort of memory--- which has now been rekindled. It is so crazy how easy it is to forget the beauty of listening to great music with the backdrop of the majestic mountains during sunset. Simply breath taking. I was able to think about so many things. Some of those things were personal goals (like writing, performing, and publishing my own music), other things were dreams (like vacations, writing my book, and perhaps someday getting a tan again :) not really), and then I thought about how happy I will be when I can share this passion of mine with my children. Clint loves to go with me to these types of things...sometimes. So I don't feel like I don't get to do it, but these last couple of years I have not really made it a priority and now I think I might change my tune. Or I might just keep having girls nights since my friend's sister and brother-in-law are in the symphony (her brother-in-law is concert master) and she gets hooked up with tickets quite frequently and luckily she likes to take me. Here's to a lasting friendship!!
